"The Douglas Brothers combine the 19th century pictorialist tradition with a progressive contemporary sensibility."
The Douglas Brothers’ photographs have a unique and timeless quality. Although known for their commercial work, it is the non-commercial feel of their prints, grainy and subtly refined, which has propelled them into the spotlight. Their photographs are at the leading edge of today’s editorial photography, prominently featured in The Independent on Sunday Review as well as numerous publications throughout Europe.
Andrew and Stuart Douglas combine the 19th century pictorialist tradition with a progressive contemporary sensibility. Known primarily for exquisite portraits of artists, musicians and actors, their work is both painterly and ethereal. These pictures capture the spiritual essence of their subject rather than a purely realistic depiction.
This exhibition includes their most recent commissioned work, a selection of portrait studies and large, unique composite pieces.
